About the bassoon reed shaper

Bassoonists who make their own reeds shape the cane after splitting and gouging it. This printed template clamps the gouged cane and gives you an edge to cut along, with dimensions taken from a Fox #2 (medium) shaper.

A machined aluminium shaper costs around US$200; this one is free. The trade-off, as the designer cheerfully points out, is that plastic will get cut if you're careless with the knife. Print it in PETG or nylon so it doesn't crack under clamping pressure.
