About the reed knife blade guard

Oboe and bassoon reed knives are very sharp, and a loose blade in a tool case can damage other tools or your fingers. This printed cover slides onto the blade and stays put by light friction.

It was made to replace the plastic guards that come with Chiarugi reed knives, and users have also found it fits Pisoni and Albion double-hollow-ground knives and a bevel knife. It's 80 mm long; some other blades are a little shorter (70–75 mm), so check yours.
