About the trumpet straight mute
A straight mute fits into the trumpet bell to give a thinner, buzzier sound. This one is drawn from a Denis Wick mute, and the designer confirms it fits and works.
Because it's plastic rather than metal, it has much less resistance and, in the designer's words, the sound is "quite funny". Think of it as a cheap mute for practice or experiments rather than a match for a metal one.
