About the SLS/FDM electric violin
The designer made this violin as a Christmas gift for his younger brother, who plays in a high-school orchestra, and as a cheaper alternative to traditional violins that could make music more accessible to students. He designed it entirely in SolidWorks for both FDM and SLS printing. It's fully playable and can be fitted with pickups. He estimates the third generation at about $60 to build, or about $140 for the electric version. The Printables page is short, and the full write-up is on his website. The video shows a violinist playing an SLS print.
