About the CMPSR shoulder rest
The designer lost a shoulder rest the day before a concert and printed a replacement in a hurry. It turned out comfortable and durable enough to keep. The refined version prints in three pieces: two numbered end caps and a central rail. Four self-tapping M5 screws join them, and a foam pad cushions the rail. The supports needed on the rail end up hidden under the pad.
PETG is recommended because it can flex a little. The screws cut their own threads, so don't over-tighten them. Put strips of tape in the slots of the end caps where they grip the violin, so they hold firmly without scratching the varnish. The designer reports using it for months without any wear or breakage.
Who it's for. Violinists who need a spare or a cheap rest. It pairs well with the Hovalin, the printed violin.
